Mehring Way Railroad Overpass, Cincinnati, Ohio
The Mehring Way Railroad Overpass, Cincinnati, Ohio
Built in 1931 the CSX Mehring Way Overpass is one of the more iconic structures on the west side of Cincinnati. The entire overpass is almost 7500 feet long and is used daily as it is a live rail line. This rail line runs between the CSX Intermodal Terminal near Cincinnati Union Terminal and the C & O Railroad Bridge over the Ohio River. A skewed Warren Through Truss Bridge spans Mehring Way on the east end of the overpass. This is a rare continuous two span bridge where the two spans actually intersect with each other. Originally built with two sets of tracks, today only one set remains.
