M50 Railroad Overpass, Dundee, Michigan

Exploring a Historic Railroad Overpass & Walkway Built in 1925 in Monroe County, Michigan, Dead Deer

The railroad overpass on Route 50 just 2.5 miles east of Dundee, Michigan is the Canadian National Flat Rock Subdivision, formerly the Detroit, Toledo & Ironton Railroad. It was constructed in 1925 with the last passenger train usage in 1931. Several people have told me that Henry Ford bought this rail line to deliver coal from Ohio to his factory in Detroit. This line currently runs 39.8 miles from Detroit, Michigan to the Diann Subdivision about 1.75 miles southwest of this overpass. Although I visited this site twice, unfortunately I wasn’t able to catch any trains running on either visit.
