Louisville Southern Railroad Trestle, Versailles, Kentucky

Louisville Southern Railroad Trestle, Versailles, Kentucky

This railroad trestle was once part of the Louisville Southern Rail line which began operation in 1884. This portion of the track was constructed in 1888 when a spur from Lawrenceburg, Kentucky ran east across the Kentucky River to Versailles. I was unable to find out when this current wooden trestle was built, but I’m guessing it’s not from the original 1888 construction. If anyone knows for sure, please leave a comment below. The trestle is just at 750 feet long and reportedly hasn’t been used since the Sylvania manufacturing plant in Versailles closed in 2019.
