Historic Wolcottville, Indiana

Local resident Duane Targgart tells us the history of Wolcottville dating back to when the town was founded by John Wollcott in 1848. Wollcott’s original home which is still standing, is located on Wolcott Street right across from Wolcott Park. One of the most famous people from Wollcottville is Ken Kercheval who played Cliff Barnes in the “Dallas” TV show. In this video we cover everything including the infamous dynamite explosion at the local hardware store set off by a gun shot, we learn about the local “Tonsil Hospital” and the interesting story of why the town is 1 square mile except for a pie shaped portion extending down to the former apple orchard to the south.
