First off I would like to thank Brandon Lecrone with the City of Cincinnati Engineering Division for supplying me with the following historic photos from the University of Cincinnati of the Brighton Approach Bridge before, during and after construction during the 1920s.

In this first section you’ll see the original bridge which was a steel through truss design for trolley cars of the era. The bridge spanned the former Miami and Erie Canal which had been filled in by the time these photos were taken.

What looks to be like a wooden pedestrian bridge was also located just yards away from the original trolley car bridge.

Apparently the demolition began in 1921. During the time of construction which concluded in 1928, the Cincinnati Subway was being built under what is now Central Parkway as shown in some of these photos.
