Warning! CSX Railroad Bridge, Monroe, Michigan
Built in 1911, this is the 2nd railroad bridge to grace this location on the River Rasin in Monroe, Michign. The original bridge is thought to have been constructed in 1896 with the substructure still intact. The abutments are built out of stone as was probably the center pier which is now encased in concrete and a favorite nesting area for at least one Goose.
The two span, dual track bridge is about 330 feet long. It was originally a Pere Marquette line but is now operated by CSX. This is a live rail line although I have never had a chance to film a train going over the bridge on either of my 2 visits to Monroe.
If you’re in the area, this is an easy bridge to film with parking directly across the street from the bridge where the old train depot use to sit.
