The Woolsey Memorial Airport, Northport, Michigan
The Woosley Memorial Airport, Northport, Michigan
Dedicated on July 14, 1935, the Woolsey Memorial Airport located just outside of Northport, Michigan is named after Captain Clinton Woolsey who died in a midair crash in 1927 over Argentina. Still an active airport that sees a flight or two each day, the terminal, which was originally a farm creamery, is a welcome roadside attraction for travelers heading along the Leelanau Peninsula in northwest Michigan.
