Listed as the Beech Creek Railroad, construction began on the rail line in August 1891 to ensure access to the bituminous coal reserves in Clearfield County, PA. The Hoyt Tunnel is about 500 feet long and 35 feet wide thus able to accommodate dual tracks. The Beech Creek Line ceased operation in 1937.
