Lucille Markey And The Race Horse Tollesboro
Lucille Markey married into the thoroughbred breeding and racing operation of Calumet Farm in Lexington, Kentucky. After the death of her husband Mr. Wright in 1950, she took over the daily operations of the facility which eventually led to her naming one of the thoroughbreds, “Tollesboro” after the town where she was born and raised. This is the story of Miss Markey and “Tollesboro”.
