Goddard Covered Bridge, Goddard, Kentucky
The Goddard Covered Bridge, Goddard, Kentucky
Built around 1820 the Goddard Bridge in Fleming County, Kentucky is 63 feet long and spans Sand Lick Creek. The bridge was designed by Ithiel Town and built by Joseph Goddard. The bridge is built out of wooden pegs called trunnels instead of nails and was originally located about 1 mile south of the town of Goddard but was moved to its present location in 1933 when Route 32 was constructed. This is the one of 11 covered bridges still standing in Kentucky and the only covered bridge still open to traffic in Fleming County.
Just behind the bridge is a beautiful country church backed up by the Pea Ridge Mountains.
