A Girl Named Sooner, Vevay, Indiana

Movie Filmed in Vevay, Indiana Featured Lee Remick, Richard Crenna, Cloris Leachman & Michael Gross

In the Summer of 1974 a film was produced in Switzerland County, Indiana and specifically in the town of Vevay. The story is set in the 1930s about a little girl without any parents and being raised in the backwoods by an elderly woman.

Filming began the week of July 22nd and employed about 75 locals. The made for TV film was released a year later on June 18th, 1975 under the title “A Girl Named Sooner”.

The following are memories given 50 years later in 2025 by Susan Deer who played “Sooner”, Michael Gross who played Jim Seevey and local Vevay residents who were “extras” in the film.
