Old Taylorsville Phantom Bridge, Fisherville, Kentucky

Abandoned Bridge Found in Kentucky Woods, Old Taylorsville Rd Phantom Bridge, Fisherville, Kentucky

The abandoned Old Taylorsville Road Pony Truss bridge was most likely built sometime in the 1930s. It’s about 52 feet long and spans Pope Lick Run.

Looking over old aerial maps it looks like this bridge may have been closed sometime in the 1980s??? Apparently the City of Louisville was suppose to replace this bridge but that never happened and it has stayed in its vegetative state for decades now.

This is an easy phantom bridge to find if you’re in the area. Just park your car at the Pope Lick Park Trailhead at the corner of South Pope Lick Road and Old Taylorsville Road. Follow Old Taylorsville Road West past South Pope Lick Road and follow the least path of resistance back to the creek. You’ll run right into the bridge. It’s probably best if you did this before or after Summer due to the vegetation.
