www.historyinyourownbackyard.com In the 1800s and early 1900s the more heavily traveled roads were known a "turnpikes" due to the fact that you had to pay a toll at the "Toll House" to travel on that portion of roadway. Most of the Toll Houses have been demolished but if you know where to look, you can still find them! This particular Toll House was built in 1850 and has now been converted into a commercial enterprise known as Neaman Floral.
